Nature Art

Nature Art

Hey everyone, this is my first attempt at "Nature Camp". I'm starting with "Nature Art"       -Lindsay

Monday:
Practice drawing. Find something in your yard and draw a picture of it. It doesn't have to be good or perfect, it just has to be natural.

Tuesday:
Try rubbings. It can be a bark rubbing, a leaf rubbing... just be creative. You can use crayons or markers or pencils... just be creative.

Wednesday:
Create a collage. Make a field journal and tape leaves or bark in. You can also label them!

Thursday:
Try making a poem. Yes, this counts as art! It can be a concrete poem or just describe something in nature.

Friday: Pick your favorite art of the week or make a new piece. Text or email it to me and I'll post it here.

Rain

Rain

By Lindsay Paulson

Tracking rain, storms and wind for Friday | WKBN.com

Why do you say, "Rain, go away"?                                                                                       I'm important to you. So, thanking me is what you should do!                                                             I water your plants, am the calm during your wild rants.                                                                 I cool you off when you are hot, fill with water an empty pot.                                                             Some fall asleep listening to me, so you should just let me be.                                          Sometimes I have a darker side, it's true: I bring thunder and lightning, scarier than a "BOO!" But you should not blame me for my terrifying friends; we're bound together until the end.          So, I ask again, and I want the honesty of youth,                                                                         Why do you say, "Rain, Rain, Go Away"?Rain Rain Go away - Cheezburger - Funny Memes | Funny Pictures

Nature of the Earth

Nature of the Earth

A found poem

Source: The Bride's Guide To Wedding Photography

One can see no thing as beautiful as early spring flowers, i realized shortly after sunset, falling in love.

Once you experience the aroma and even occurrence to be savored limitations require a reality check

Fragile buds were sprouting at the thought.                   Colorful goldfinch dive into a throng of crazed clouds.

I care to remember a statuesque, bright summer bouquet.

A fresh floral cascade will be a nice memento.

If you are in a particularly festive mood, a petal portion reward is so sentimental when it comes to amaze this most special event-

Once you have positively fallen in love with an intoxicating future that is a strength- saints be praised!

Lizard

One lost little lizard

in a huge middle school courtyard

searching for another.

Lockers shut.

Clangclangclang.

Who are you?

Kids gossip.

Chatterchatterchatter.

Who are you?

Books fall.

Clatterclatterclatter.

Who are you?

The bell rings.

                             Dingdingding.

                             Everybody leaves.

                             Stompstompstomp.

                          Who am I?

Fire and Ice

          Knowing Nature

               is back....
                  yet again....

This blog entry started when I was talking to my dad's parents, up in Minnesota. They mentioned that they were getting some cold weather already, and meanwhile that made me think of gym class earlier, which was SO HOT!
And that made me think of a poem I had seen when I found the Yellowstone one in my previous entry. So, here goes.

Some say the world will end in fire;

Some say in ice.

From what I've tasted of desire

I hold with those who favor fire.🞻

But if it had to perish twice,

I think I know enough of hate

To say that for destruction ice       Is also great    And would suffice.    -Robert Frost

🞻Has this guy ever experienced a Florida summer?

This poem got me thinking, so look at the predicted forecasts on Saturday, September 7, for...

Tampa, Florida: 92 degrees Fahrenheit

Toronto, Canada: 71 degrees Fahrenheit

St. Paul, Minnesota: 66 degrees Fahrenheit

Mexico City, Mexico: 76 degrees Fahrenheit

Washington D.C.: 83 degrees Fahrenheit

Big Blue Sky

Knowing Nature is back again with poems for you!

Many, if not all, of my loyal blog readers know that I went to Yellowstone this summer. While doing a bit of research on it, I've found some poems that I'd like to share with you.

Forget all your troubles,  forget all your cares.

And go to the park with bison and bears.

Moose go grazing. Gray wolves stalk.

Great elk climb, and pronghorn walk.

Rivers flow and geysers spout.

Fir trees rise, and lilies sprout.

Brown trout swim and falcons fly.

All beneath a Big Blue Sky.

-Douglas Florian

That inspired me to create a Yellowstone poem of my own. So, here goes:

Everything is calm.

The hot springs are flat, flat as can be. The geyser is merely a hole in the ground.

Everything is calm.

Then the geyser bubbles... once...twice...

and

 it

 ERUPTS!

A wild frenzy. shouting, awe, silence at the majesty. A scramble for photos. It shoots up far above each head. And then it's gone...

and

Everything

 is

calm.
